Here are six fun activities to have with friends – and how to do them. There’s nothing like spending time with friends and family. It’s where you learn about each other’s personalities and find out what’s really important to them. But, spending time with friends can also be a drag sometimes. You’re too tired to go out, or your kids are too demanding, or your partner just wants to watch TV. So how can you make your time with friends fun?
STEP 1: Make Plans Ahead of Time
The first step to having fun is making sure you have plans in place. If you know you’re going to spend some time with your friends at a certain time, get on the phone and talk about it beforehand.
You can either make a simple plan like “I’ll pick up a bottle of wine and meet you at the house,” or you can make a more elaborate plan like “We’re all going to the movies.”
If you have plans with multiple people, make sure you all agree on the details in advance. Otherwise, you could end up spending hours arguing about who gets to watch what movie.
STEP 2: Don’t Be Too Picky
Don’t be too picky with your friends. Sure, you might like some of them more than others, but don’t force yourself to spend time with the people you hate.
Everyone has their own interests, and you shouldn’t feel pressured to spend your time with people who aren’t fun.
If you spend time with people who are boring or irritating, you’ll feel bad about yourself when you’re with them.
STEP 3: Find People Who Are Like You
Another way to have fun is to find people who are like you.
There’s nothing better than hanging out with someone who shares your hobbies or interests. It can even be a good way to meet new people.
Look around you. There are plenty of people who would love to spend time with you.
STEP 4: Pick Activities That Bring You Closer Together
If you want to have fun, try activities that bring you closer together.
This doesn’t mean spending time with your friends and family. It means having some activities that involve just the two of you.
It can be as simple as taking a long walk or going on a road trip. It could also be more complex – you might take an art class together, or sign up for a cooking class together.
STEP 5: Don’t Be Afraid to Say “No”
Finally, don’t feel bad if you say no to people. Saying yes to everyone will only leave you drained and miserable.
You don’t have to spend all your time with friends. If you have other things you need to do, then don’t feel guilty about saying no.
STEP 6: Keep in Touch
Don’t let time pass without talking to your friends. Texting and social media are great ways to stay connected, but nothing beats a real conversation.
Keep in touch with them by planning dinner dates, inviting them over, or just chatting on the phone.
